Impressive care and dedication The facility exceeded our expectations with its well-kept grounds and the evident care given to the horses by dedicated volunteers. Both my husband and I were thoroughly impressed. We have already recommended it to our daughter, who is studying veterinary medicine and seeking meaningful volunteer opportunities. A truly remarkable place that combines compassion and commitment to horse welfare.

My husband and I took the tour of SWFHR with Sue as our guide. This is a charitable organization well worth supporting. It is clean, organized and efficiently run. The love and care given to these beautiful horses is incredible. We arrived at 8:00 a.m. and the volunteers were busy feeding, giving and applying medications where needed, grooming, cleaning stalls. We are so lucky to have a horse rescue of this caliber in southwest Florida.

Sue and Shonda were extremely welcoming and informative, and I delighted in meeting a few volunteers, as well as seeing the property and the horses, which are both well maintained. I had a volunteer tour of the SWFL Horse Rescue facility. Therese was very informative about the history of the volunteer and the horses in their care. You can tell from the volunteers working, the maintenance and condition of the facilities that the horses are all very well cared for. I’m excited to get back into my horse rescue volunteer work after my move to SWFL. If you are looking for a volunteer program and you have a love for horses, you must visit SWFL Horse Rescue in south Punta Gorda!

Went to this rescue today for a volunteer tour and it was such an amazing experience. Our guide knew everything there was to know about each one of the horses. They keep the stables and the paddocks were kept clean. They were getting ready to help a horse that was having an issue with their hoove, the gentleness of the men taking care of this horse was so heart warming. The horses love to see their caregivers coming and that speaks volumes. The care provided at this facility is absolutely incredible. I have scheduled my orientation and cannot wait to be part of their volunteer team! I highly recommend taking the time to either tour or volunteer at this rescue! Me and my husband had the most amazing time!

Thank you for giving me and my family a wonderful tour! The volunteers are very knowledgeable and passionate about the rescued horses---you can see they have developed a real bond with them. My hope is more people will visit, participate in their events or donate to them financially or in kind---especially for much needed veterinary services---to provide continued good care. Some horses are adoptable, but many are sanctuary, which means every dime counts for their nutritional and medical necessities.

Fantastic people with a real cause. I visited this place with my wife to see what it is they do and you cannot ask for anything more. Large animals like horses are sometimes overlooked. Nothing is more sad than a neglected horse. SWFHR takes in nurtures them back to health with loving care!

SWFHR is a magical place. Each horse base their own pasture cleaned daily, their own stable, also cleaned daily and every horse is cleaned every day. When a horse passes away, they are laid to rest on the ranch and there is a reflection area to sit and remember their lives. All the volunteers work extremely hard each day and care immensely for the horses. Matt and Tina have created a beautiful place for the horses to heal or just spend the rest of their life. I thoroughly enjoy being part of the family of volunteers.

They operated about 10 years without a Required license's they know they had to have. They did not want to get it . They've let many government, county , state Filing of paperwork to operate and do fundraising go with out the proper paper Knowingly. They had many Illegally fundraising Activities without having the proper state required paperwork filed for Florida State as it was Suspend it for not filing the paperwork for years. Their long list of illegal activities that they chose to do that was wrong, But did it anyway. they had Volunteers put up structures without getting proper Design approval or permitting or approval from the county. Putting Volunteers & public at risk of injury.

We have been to SWFL Horse Rescue a couple of times. Very enjoyable! These people like their work and do it well. The tour guide answered all of our questions and did the tour narration very well. If you like horses, do this trip.

I have been a “Horse Angel” to Bella for more than a year. I am one of the lucky ones that gets to spend time with her. I have groomed her, taken her for walks around the paddock, treated her with watermelon and given her plenty of hugs! I feel good knowing my donation goes to a sanctuary horse that is being given a wonderful later life at SWFHR complete with farrier, dental, chiropractic treatment and proper medical care…services that were likely abandoned when older horses like “Bella” were neglected by previous owners. This is a wonderful program for some very special horses!

I registered for a General Tour and by golf cart with the Tour Leader I was able to see and learn about each of the horses. It was very inspiring to see the people working there (including volunteers) taking such great care of the animals. The tour costs just $10 and they take donations as well. Recommend going to see it and supporting this great animal cause in our community. Thank you for the time you spent with me. I plan to come back to help out.
